Civil Eng. Student Places 2nd in National Competition

For her paper “Ethics and Globalization,” Lee College of Engineering Civil Engineering student Emily Lukens won second place in the American Society of Civil Engineers 2012 National Daniel W. Mead Student Contest.

Senior Design Winners

May 3, 2012

Lee College of Engineering seniors presented their year-long senior projects at the college’s annual Senior Design Exposition on May 3, 2012. Out of the 60 completed student projects on display, three were chosen as being the best.

Statics Night

April 30, 2012

For their final Statics project, 10 teams of civil and mechanical engineering students had to figure where to place pennies to balance an acrylic sheet with an off-centered mounting point. Some of the teams succeeded and some failed, but everyone had a good time participating and eating pizza at Statics Night on April 30.

Systems Engineering Team Places 2nd in National Competition

April 26, 2012

The SEEM GE Lean Challenge team finished 2nd in a national competition for implementing lean manufacturing initiatives at a GE plant.  The UNC Charlotte team partnered with GE-Salisbury and spent nine weeks studying, analyzing, designing and implementing changes to the process at the plant.
