EWB – USA

Engineers Without Borders (EWB) is an international organization that partners with communities here and around the world to put the skills of engineers and others to work helping people gain access to basic needs like housing, sanitation, and safe drinking water. While EWB primarily consists of engineering professionals and students; it relies on the expertise of many disciplines consisting of but not limited to anthropologists, educators, statisticians, sociologist, health professionals, and scientists.

EWB-USA was actually founded by students and faculty at the University of Colorado at Boulder.  The founder, Bernard Amadei, is a professor of Civil Engineering at UCB.  He started EWB with a handful of students.  Now, only a decade later, EWB boasts 12,000 members with 350 projects in 45 nations.

EWB – UNC Charlotte

The students and faculty involved with UNC Charlotte EWB feel a personal responsibility and desire to give back to the communities and countries with the greatest of needs. It is also our desire that as a group we connect with local professionals on projects and create relationships and learning experiences that go beyond anything that can be taught in a class room. The UNC Charlotte EWB works with local professional groups in planning, designing, and implementing projects. Through local fundraising, students and professionals travel to implement the project in the countries with current projects. EWB is a multi-disciplinary organization so no matter your major we hope you will be able to join us in this exciting venture and help us put in the footwork that will help us prosper in current and future endeavors.
