Purpose: Determine ways to raise money for the chapter and Peru projects.

Meeting Summary: The meeting was an open discussion, charrette, in which all members were
open to express their ideas on fundraising. There were also members from other student
organizations that attended and gave input, like ASCE and SHPE. The meeting lasted
approximately 1 hour. The individuals that attended the meeting expressed their ideas and as a
group the ideas were discussed. At the conclusion of the meeting, the following are the list of
fundraising activities/ products that were discussed:

Selling wrist bands
Xbox/PS3 tournament
Family Night at a restaurant- Examples: CiCi’s Pizza or Chick-fil-a
Auction (Shed, dog house, benches, corn hole boards, etc.); could the Sustainable Design class build them ?
Dodge ball tournament
Pie a President on Presidents day- This is going to happen as a part of E-Week
Carowinds/ Scarowinds Work days- SHPE said that they would give us contact information
Bobcats Arena workdays
Coke promotions/ workdays
My Edu- get money for each person who signs up
International Festival- this only happens in the fall; maybe we could participate next year
Building/selling corn hole sets
Building/selling the game called Washers
A change drive
Selling H2O drops so people can write their name on them and putting them up on a board
Selling t-shirts

The first meeting will be held on February 6th from 4:30pm to 5:30pm in Cameron 119.  If you can’t make it for the whole time, come for as long as you can.  I am looking forward to getting to reconnect with everyone and get down to the nuts and bolts of what needs to get done.

This will be a great opportunity to catch the vision for development work.  Several of us went to last year’s conference and found it to be well worth it!  Let me know if you are interested!

This presentation will be very worth-while.  We are extremely honored to have him with us.  Dr. Blondet is widely recognized in his field.  In addition to this, he is also running a center for Appropriate Technology at the university.  I hope you can all make it:
