MSDNAA Offers Free Software

Effective Fall '07 the College of Engineering will be one of 3 academic units at UNC Charlotte participating the the Microsoft Developer Network Academic Alliance (MSDNAA).  This program allows any faculty member in the COE and students currently enrolled in any COE course  to obtain at no cost (thru a download) or at a low cost (for the CD media)  numerous  Microsoft software packages.  Unfortunately core Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint are not included.

Please read the Usage Guidelines for the program before downloading/ordering software as there are certain restrictions.

How does it work?

At the end of  each semester's drop-add period (generally the end of the 2nd week of  classes) a list of all valid faculty and students is provided to the UNC Charlotte MSDNAA administrator who forwards it to Microsoft.  Shortly thereafter each user receives an email to their UNC Charlotte email account containing their login name, password and a link to the UNC Charlotte MSDNAA site.

Your login name will always be your UNC Charlotte email address.  For example, This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .  If you forget your password you can go here to have your password mailed to your UNC Charlotte email account.

After you login into the site you may select the software that you want, decide if you want a download or a CD/DVD (remember that some packages are only available on CD/DVD) and add it to your cart.  During check-out you'll be asked to provide a mailing address and  pay for media and/or be directed to the download site to obtain your software.

What software is available?

The software currently available may be viewed here. Clicking on one of the product icons will open a new page detailing that product and how it is available.
