The Levine Scholarship Program at UNC Charlotte The four-year scholarship includes full tuition, room and board, a grant to implement a service project of the Scholar’s own design, and four summers of experiences that will develop leadership skills, social awareness, and an international perspective. The total value of this four-year package is estimated at $90,000 per in-state student and $137,000 per out-of-state student. The program seeks outstanding high school seniors who demonstrate evidence of experience, motivation, and commitment toward the ideals of the Levine Scholars Program. To be considered, current high school seniors must submit a complete Freshman Admissions Application and Levine Scholars Supplemental Application by November 8th of each year. To gain access to the Levine Scholars Supplemental Application, seniors must first receive a nomination from their high school counselor. The nomination portal will open on August 25th and will close on October 15th of each year. High school counselors should submit nominations here. Once nominated, nominees will receive access to the supplemental application via email. Completed applications will be reviewed in November and December. Finalists will be contacted in January and invited to attend the Finalist Program. The Lee College of Engineering offers a limited number of scholarships to new freshmen. There is no application process. The college receives a list of eligible students from Admissions and identifies recipients based on scholarship selection criteria. Students who receive awards are notified by July 15th. Recipients must submit a thank you letter in addition to their signed acceptance form prior to having the award posted to their student account. Thank you letters must be in proper business format and include appropriate content, spelling, and grammar. Below you will find a brief description of the scholarships available for entering freshmen: Lee P. and Ynez Joyce Endowed Scholarship (Entering Freshmen Only) This scholarship is awarded once every four years. First priority is given to students who graduated from Forbush High School in East Bend, NC. The Joyce Scholarship will be awarded again in 2013. Pamela M. and William T. Crowder Jr. Scholarship (Entering Freshmen Only) The Crowder Scholarship is a one-year award given to civil engineering majors focusing on construction engineering management. CESI Scholarship (Entering Freshmen Only) This scholarship is a one-year award. It is awarded to a civil engineering major who graduated in the top 10% of their high school class. William A. Smith/NCBEEC Scholarship (Entering Freshmen Only) This award is for students majoring in electrical or computer engineering. It is awarded annually and is not renewable. Joshua B. Earley Memorial Scholarship (Entering Freshmen Only) This scholarship is awarded every four years to a fire safety engineering technology major. Preference is given to firefighters from Cabarrus County. The Earley Scholarship will be awarded again in 2012. Firefighter Steven Coakley Memorial Scholarship (Available to All Students Including Freshmen) This scholarship is a one-year award. It is awarded to a fire safety engineering technology major who is interested in pursuing a career in fire safety. Alan Kulwicki Memorial Scholarship (Entering Freshmen Only) This scholarship is awarded to a mechanical engineering major with a concentration in motorsports and is renewable for up to four years pending a satisfactory GPA each year.
